Through these videos, we share with you some kitchen skills, techniques and easy recipes to inspire you to create something delicious and nutritious for those around you.
While our face-to-face Cooking Classes are now back at The Essential Ingredient Prahran Cooking School, we trust that this very special collection of videos will help you gain a lot of new skills and dishes to share with friends and family.

Baking Essentials – Dessert and Pastry: If you are new to baking, or simply want to brush up on your skills, here is your chance to learn how to master easy recipes to create beautiful desserts or bake delicious pastries – from a classic French Clafoutis to everyone’s favourite lemon delicious pudding and a savory flaky pastry turned into a pissaladiere (French style pizza).
Baking Essentials – Bread: While baking is a very broad subject, we believe there are few other kitchen activities which offer the same pleasure – both to the baker and to the eater. In these videos, you’ll learn how to prepare Flatbread and Focaccia that are perfect as a snack or side with a nice comforting soup for example, or even on its own. You’ll also learn about yeast and how to know if the yeast is activated, and some valuable hand-kneading techniques for the dough.
Knife Handling: In these videos, you’ll learn how to choose the right knife for each purpose, master its use, sharpen and maintain your knife. You’ll also learn how to debone a chicken, and prepare a chicken traybake perfect for a delicious family dinner.
Cook Up a Feast: This online cooking class by Nadia Montebelli with special guest Ashleigh McBean from Gary’s Meats, showcases how to roll a Porchetta and cook various sides dishes, including duck fat potatoes, cherry & hazelnut stuffing, and a butter lettuce, bean, raspberry, charred nectarines & hazelnut salad.
