Knife Sharpening: Knives sharpened, handles repaired and chips removed. Bring knives into our store in a plastic container by 4pm every Thursday and collect them anytime after midday the following day.
After extensively researching the market and initiating a solo attempt at ‘Diva Domestica’, it became obvious very early on that Leonie Young and Georgia Paton were trying to create something that looked a lot like The Essential Ingredient. Subsequently, in September 2005 the pair liked the business so much they bought a franchise and set up The Essential Ingredient Newcastle.
In 2010, the store relocated to their new address in Cook’s Hill, arguably the most fashionable ‘foodie’ destination in Newcastle region.
As well as the usual offering of quality ingredients, exclusive cookware and all the latest cook books, the new store includes a ‘mini-market’, with a Café, a comprehensive Cheese Display, a comfortable cook book-reading area, as well as a well-appointed Cooking School.
Holding the belief that if you are going to work hard you should be doing something you absolutely love, Leonie stands proudly behind The Essential Ingredient name. A passion for food and an appreciation of the group’s exceptional products, service and knowledgeable approach to retail has continued to exceed expectations.
The Essential Ingredient continues to stock the best quality food, cookware and culinary books available in the country, with many exclusive products imported from all over the world. Each store also identifies leading local producers to ensure they continue to meet and exceed their customer’s expectations.
