Jan and Heinz Haupt had been enthusiastic customers of The Essential Ingredient Melbourne for years and after selling their motel business, they found themselves with time on their hands to pursue other interests.

Tapping into the regional passion for food and wine, the Haupt’s selected the central town of Albury/ Wodonga to open The Essential Ingredient in August 2004. The opening has been warmly welcomed and the business continues to go from strength to strength thanks to the patronage of loyal customers.

The Essential Ingredient continues to range some of the best quality food, cookware and culinary books available in the country with many exclusive products imported from all over the world. Each store also identifies leading local producers to ensure they continue to meet and exceed their customer’s expectations.
